Combining a home battery with solar panels

Without a battery you only use solar energy at the moment your panels are producing. Whatever you do not consume at that moment goes to the grid. With a battery you capture that surplus and use it later, for example when you cook or run the washing machine in the evening.

How much your self-consumption rises depends on your generation, your consumption pattern and the capacity of the battery. Those who are away from home during the day and consume a lot in the evening generally get more out of storage. What this delivers in concrete terms differs per home and consumption, and we will work that out together.

Solar panels produce direct current, while your home and the grid operate on alternating current. The inverter converts that current. With a battery, the additional question arises of how it connects to the installation: some systems use a separate battery inverter, others use a hybrid inverter that manages both the panels and the battery.

Not every battery is a straightforward match for every set of solar panels or every inverter. We look at the brand and type of your existing installation, the capacity of your panels and the way everything is connected. That way we prevent you from installing a system that does not work together smoothly.
