An electrical inspection is the official check in which an approved inspection body verifies whether your installation complies with the AREI, the General Regulation on Electrical Installations. The inspector visits, measures and tests, and then issues an inspection report. With us, it is not about that report itself, but about everything that comes before it: we get the electrical installation inspection ready so that the check runs without surprises.

We do not carry out the inspection, that is done by an independent body. What we do: check your installation, resolve shortcomings and prepare the whole thing for the AREI inspection. That way you know in advance where you stand and you do not lose time with back and forth after a negative report.

When is an electrical inspection mandatory?

An inspection is required, among other situations, for a new installation or a major extension, when selling a home with an installation older than a certain date, and for the periodic re-inspection required by the AREI. The exact situations and deadlines depend on your home and the type of installation.

How we get your installation compliant

We start with a check of the fuse board, the earthing installation, the residual current devices (earth leakage circuit breakers) and the wiring. Where necessary, we install missing protection, such as a circuit breaker or a residual current device, restore the earthing or replace outdated components that an inspector would reject.

We document everything we do neatly, so that the inspector has a clear picture of the installation. If a diagram or single line diagram is missing, we arrange that as well. This way, the installation arrives at the inspection fully prepared.

Do you carry out the inspection yourselves?
No. The inspection is carried out by an independent recognised inspection body. We get your installation compliant so that it is ready for that check and we resolve the shortcomings that an inspector would flag.
What exactly does an electrical inspection check?
The inspector tests your installation against the AREI: among other things the earthing, the residual current devices, the protection of the circuits, the cabling and the available schematic. If everything complies, you receive a conformity inspection report.
Can you carry out a check before the official inspection?
Yes. We check your installation in advance during a site visit, so that you know what needs to be put in order before the inspector visits. That way you avoid a negative report and extra follow-up visits.
How long does it take to get an installation ready?
That depends on the condition of the installation and the nature of the shortcomings. After the site visit we give you a concrete estimate and a quote, so that you know where you stand.
When is an electrical inspection mandatory?
An inspection is mandatory, among other situations, when a new installation is commissioned, when an installation is extended or upgraded, and when a property is sold. What if my installation does not pass the inspection?
If you receive a negative inspection report, you are given a deadline to have the defects rectified, after which a reinspection follows. We will go through the report with you, resolve the identified defects and get your installation ready so that the reinspection runs smoothly.
