The charging point price is one of the first questions that comes up as soon as you start driving electric. An honest answer is: the price depends on your situation. Two homes with the same charging point can have a different final price, simply because the connection, the distance to the board or the necessary adjustments differ.
Instead of quoting a fixed amount that turns out to be wrong afterwards, we explain which factors determine the price of a charging point. That way you know what to look out for and why a quote after a site visit is the most reliable basis.
The chosen charging capacity and the type of charging station determine part of the price. A simple charging station costs less than a device with control, metering or connectivity. What you need depends on your car, your consumption and whether you want to be able to charge with solar panels or dynamic charging.
More expensive is not always better: sometimes a simple device is enough, sometimes a smarter charging station pays for itself in comfort and control. We weigh that up together based on your usage.
A large part of the price is in the work, not in the device. The distance between your distribution board and the charging point determines the cable length and the cross-section. If the cable runs through a wall, across a driveway or to a detached garage, that also plays a role.
The condition of your board also counts. If there is still room and margin for an extra circuit, the work remains limited. If an upgrade or an adjustment to the board is needed, that adds cost. During the site visit we map this out.
Whether premiums or support schemes apply, and how much you ultimately save through smart charging, depends on your home, your consumption and the energy prices at that time. We make no fixed promises about that.
