Installing a charging point is more than hanging a device on the wall. It is electrical work that must connect correctly to your distribution board, with the right protection, cable cross-section and fuse. As an executing installer, we carry out that work ourselves, so that the charging point functions safely and your installation remains compliant.
Having a charging point installed starts with good preparation. We examine your connection, measure the cable route and determine which charging capacity your installation can handle. Only then is the actual installation scheduled.
For an EV charger installation, we run a dedicated circuit from the distribution board to the charging point. That circuit gets its own circuit breaker and an RCD of the correct type, because an EV charger requires specific protection against DC leakage.
The cable runs via the shortest safe route to the charging point, in the appropriate cross-section for the chosen power rating and the distance. For an outdoor installation, we ensure weather-resistant wiring and a neat finish.
The distribution board is the heart of the installation. We check whether there is still space and capacity for an extra circuit, whether an upgrade is needed, and whether the board complies with current standards. Where necessary, we extend the board or propose an adjustment.
If you want to be able to manage things later with solar panels or stay within your available capacity, we immediately provide the cabling and metering required for that. That way you do not have to break things open again afterwards.
A new or modified electrical installation must be inspected in accordance with the AREI. For your charging point circuit, that means an inspection by an approved inspection body. We deliver the installation ready for that inspection and help you with what is required for it.
After the installation, we test the operation, explain how to charge and go through the settings of the charging point, so that you get off to a good start straight away.
We look at your connection, distribution board and cable route, and determine the achievable charging power.
You receive a proposal covering the chosen unit, the connection and the work, with no surprises.
We lay the separate circuit, install the charging point and connect everything correctly to the panel.
We test that it works and hand over the installation ready for the AREI inspection, with instructions on how to use it.
We take care of the full installation, from the circuit on your board to a handover ready for inspection. Request a site visit and quote.
