What does a home battery cost?

The biggest factor is capacity, expressed in kWh. A 5 kWh battery stores less energy than a 10 kWh model, and that difference is reflected in the price. Power also plays a role: how many kilowatts the battery can supply or absorb at once determines whether it can help cover heavy consumers such as a heat pump or charging point.

Placement also counts. The distance to your meter cupboard, the cabling, whether a separate inverter is needed and whether we install the battery indoors or in a technical room all influence the installation cost. A home where the electrical installation is already prepared for expansion requires less work than a situation where we first have to make adjustments.

If you are looking at the price of a 5 or 10 kWh home battery, bear in mind that capacity is not a goal in itself. A larger model costs more, but the extra capacity only adds value if your consumption and generation actually make use of it. A battery that you rarely fully charge or discharge is more expensive than necessary.

So first look at your annual consumption, the times when you use electricity and your own generation before you choose a capacity. Read more about the right capacity for your situation.

A figure without a site visit is a guess, and a guess does not help you with an investment like this.
